LATEST RACING RESULTS November 2, 2008: October 2008 Whatsamillion , 5yo gelding by Deputy Commander , broke his maiden in gate-to-wire fashion at Fresno on 10/13 setting all the fractions in the one mile race for 3yo's & up. He is owned & trained by BVF client Rafael DeLeon. Madam Inspector , 2yo filly by Deputy Commander , broke her maiden in just her second time out in a 6f race for 2yo fillies at Woodbine on 10/12. Off the board in her first try, this time the young miss sped to the front early & never looked back on her way to a two length victory over six rivals. River Mountain Rd , 8yo gelding by Deputy Commander , won a mile & 70 yards ALW race on 10/14 at Fonner Lakes earning his 14 th career win to go with nine second place finishes & six thirds from an amazing 53 starts! This victory over six other 3yo's & up increased his bankroll to over $349K. Duty Roster, 4yo gelding by Deputy Commander , won a NW2X AOC 6f race on 10/3 at Pinnacle Race Course coming from off the pace to notch his fifth career victory. He also has five second place finishes & two thirds from a nineteen race career. Strident , 7yo horse by Deputy Commander , earned a win in the I C T Ajmann II Fonds-rennen race at Germany's Mulheim Race Course on 10/3. Itsalittleharsh , 2yo filly by Deputy Commander, broke her maiden in a MSW race for 2yo fillies going a mile & 40 yards on the dirt track at Finger Lakes on 10/18. Off as the overwhelming favorite, the filly came from off the pace to notch her first win in five starts. She also has a second place finish to her credit. My Main Starr , 3yo filly by Deputy Commander , closed down the stretch in the $50K-added 7f HBPA Charles Town & Ranson Mayor Stakes for F&M 3yo & up at Charles Town on 10/17, recording her third stakes placing in her last four starts. After spending almost all but one of her first ten starts in allowance races, the filly stepped into stakes company for the first time on 6/28 at Delaware Park, & in her four starts since then has run second in two stakes at that track before her third place finish in the Ranson. In between, she took second in an ALW race at Laurel Park. Consecutive wins in ALW company at Charles Town & Delaware Park had earned her an entry into stakes competition. Todo Para Bien (Arg) , 3yo filly by Deputy Commander , broke her maiden European style as she was victorious in her fourth lifetime start, this one at Hipodromo San Isidro in Argentina on 7/16.June 2008 Ambidaxtrous , 3yo filly by Deputy Commander , took third in the Elmont Stakes on 6/28 at Belmont Park in his second stakes effort. He has now earned over $87K with two wins, two seconds & a third place finish from eight starts. Feb/Mar 2008 Reporting for Duty, 4yo colt by Deputy Commander, added more black type to his resume with a third Grade 2 placing in the New Orleans Handicap at the Fair Grounds on 3/8. His earnings now exceed $416K from a line of 15-3-5-2. Madam Commander, 3yo filly by Deputy Commander, won a MSW race at Aqueduct on 3/2 notching her first victory to go along with two previous on-the-board finishes from five lifetime starts. Admiralty, 3yo colt by Deputy Commander, gave trainer Nick Zito & owner/breeder Tracy Farmer a victory on 2/21 as he broke his maiden in a MSW at Gulfstream Park over a sloppy track. He has not been off the board in four career starts. The Rare Commander, 3yo gelding by Deputy Commander, closed well late to break his maiden on 2/23 at Turfway Park taking the MSW race for 3yo’s by a neck for owner/breeder Alex Campbell, Jr. First Commandment, 3yo colt by Deputy Commander, won an Allowance race for New York breds on 3/15 at Aqueduct as he came from slightly off the pace to win his second lifetime race from three starts. March 13, 2008 Due to an undiagnosed health issue, Ballena Vista Farm’s stallion Deputy Commander has been removed from the breeding shed for the 2008 season. While not a life-threatening injury nor a contagious illness, the health issue is affecting his ability to effectively cover mares. The onset of the problem over the past week prompted his admittance to the University of California at Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital where he has been undergoing comprehensive testing and treatment. It is expected that he will return to the Farm no later than mid-March. While it is possible that the stallion could recover from his health issue in a matter of days or weeks, for the well-being of the stallion and to give owners who have mares booked to the stallion ample time to amend their mares’ breeding plans for the season, the Farm’s management team decided to suspend Deputy Commander’s breeding activities at this time for the duration of the 2008 season. Owners who have mares booked to the stallion may opt to transfer their booking fee and contract to another Ballena Vista Farm stallion, or they may request cancellation of their mare’s contract to Deputy Commander and accept a refund of the booking fee. The Farm’s management is in the process of completing the task of contacting all mare owners who have booked mares to the stallion this season. January 2008 HOUGHTON REGRETS,(’01 bay gelding o/o Fabulist, by Devils’ Bag), increased his lifetime earnings total to nearly $97K as he won a NW1X ALW race at the Fair Grounds on 1/1 coming from off the pace to get up in time to best eight rivals.
